Tillerson announced resignation from the post of head of Exxon Mobil
Rex Tillerson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the US oil and gas company Exxon Mobil, whom US President-elect Donald Trump nominated as Secretary of State, will resign at the end of the year. This was reported in the company itself.
The place of Tillerson as the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors will be from January 1, 2017, the president of the company Darren Woods, who headed Exxon Mobil and joined the board of directors in January 2016.
Trump suggested that Tillerson be appointed to the post of US Secretary of State on Tuesday. The candidacy must be approved by the US Senate, in which the Republican Party has a small majority.
Tillerson began working at Exxon Company in 1975 as a process engineer. He worked at the corporation for 41 years and had to resign in March next year after he turned 65 years old. Tillerson decided to leave his post ahead of schedule due to a number of requirements related to the procedure for approving the post of US Secretary of State.
The board of directors of the corporation congratulated Tillerson on nominating for a new position, the report of Exxon Mobil states.
